Each area of France has its own personality. Rambouillet is located in the heart of France's " Ile de France" region, the birth place of the French language. The minute you arrive, you will truly see what it is like to live in France. It's a charming little city of 26.000 inhabitants, nestled in the forest dans la forêt, only 30 minutes south west of Paris! For ages, Rambouillet has been the favorite place of Parisians who come to spend the weekend, French kings who used the chateau hunting grounds, and most recetntly the President of the Republic who now uses the chateau to hold governemental conferences. In 2000 the city of Rambouillet was awarded the European Prize of "Art de Vivre". |

By car : Leave Paris by the Saint Cloud tunnel, take the A13 motorway, (towards Rouen-Rambouillet) it then becomes the A12 motorway (towards Rambouillet) then the RN10. The distance between Paris and Rambouillet is 45Km. |

By plane and train : You land either at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle (north of Paris), or Orly (south east). We can book a taxi for you (around 120€), but most of our students take the Air France bus (one every 35 minutes) last stop at the Paris Montparnasse train station (price 12€). At Montparnasse you take a train " grandes lignes" Paris- Versailles- RAMBOUILLET. 30 minute trip. The ticket costs 6.7€. We use to pick up the students at the Rambouillet train station even though the institute is only 10 minutes walking distance. |

What is the weather like ?
The forest protects the city. It rarely snows more then 2 or 3 days in the winter, and there are only a couple of weeks in the summer that are very hot. But whatever the seasons the nights can be cold ,so don't forget to take some warms clothes !

In the center of Rambouillet, lies the park of the "Vieux Moulin", with the Institute International de Rambouillet. The institute has five adjoining buildings where one can find classrooms, bedrooms, a cafeteria and offices as well as our study equipment which is accessible to our students 24 hours a day. We also have an internet room, a language laboratory, a TV room, and a laundry room to offer.
If you come for a short stay ,you are thus sure to take advantage of these equipments at the best price If you stay a long time, and need a visa and then a residence permit , the fact that you study and live at the institute makes application easier.
